Team Profile: Justin Ho

Having been with Journey Engineering Corporation since 2017; Justin Ho is considered one of our ‘OGs’! Prior to Journey, Justin spent time at the University of Calgary for Mechanical Engineering and at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) for the EDDT program. After graduation, Justin started his journey with Journey and has been here ever since!

His experience spans greatly: he’s worked as QA/QC Inspector on numerous #landfill construction and landfill cap projects in AB, SK, and BC; he’s had experience on general civil site #construction projects (such as site grading, wetland outfalls, lagoon construction, etc.); and he’s involved in the engineering design space (designing new cell expansions, landfill caps, roads, etc.). Justin has always been interested in engineering design since he was in school and finds utilizing engineering design programs such as #SolidWorks and #AutoCAD intriguing as there are a multitude of ways to achieve a desired result. He also has a passion for drone technologies and attended the 2023 #DroneDeploy conference in Colorado, learning about the versatility and future of #drone technologies.

For Justin, the definition of ‘home’ is a wonderful and #supportive wife, Alex – she is caring, beautiful, and also puts up with Justin’s silliness. A while back, they adopted a 5 year-old tabby cat named Pika who is described as perhaps not having the greatest temperament, but they love her all the same! PSA: She also looks super adorable in Halloween costumes. 😸

Recently, Justin has taken on a larger #design role in projects and hopes to continue in this trajectory. He’s always willing to learn new things and take on more responsibilities within Journey, and also personally feels that this is achievable with our dedicated and strong #team to rely on. He also aims to expand the utilization of drone technologies on future projects!

Last but not least, cheers to Justin recently attaining his C.E.T. designation with ASET | The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta)! 🥳✨ Thank you for being such an important member of the team, growing your skillset and rising to any occasion, and being the go-to person for so many civil QA/QC and design topics!
