Project Spotlight: Special Areas Board Dam Safety Management

#JourneyProjectSpotlight

In southeastern Alberta’s grasslands lies the #SpecialAreas – the many farmers and ranchers hailing from the communities of Consort, Empress, Hanna, Oyen, Veteran, Youngstown, and surrounding areas make up the mecca of rural lifestyle with excellent #quality of life for all those who live, work, and play there.

Under Martin Bellmont’s management and guidance, we recently completed a #damsafety project for the Special Areas Board, inspecting 13 “low” consequence dams, confirming the existing consequence classification, and providing recommendations to ensure all requirements are being met per the 2018 Alberta Dam and Canal Safety Directive (#Directive). As part of the scope of services, Journey also performed an engineering #inspection of Blood Indian Dam, confirming its existing “high” consequence classification and updating key documents as stipulated by the Directive.
