Disposal Well Facility Pad and Surface Water Pond

Oil & gas services company | Kakwa region, Alberta
Journey partnered with the Client to complete the civil work related to the development of a new water disposal facility. The work included design, procurement, construction management, and field QA/QC inspection services for a facility pad, road access, surface water pond, and water management drainage system. The facility pad was engineered and constructed to a level to accommodate the development of a water disposal facility, including buildings, piles, tanks, and tank truck traffic.

Working on a Tight Site with Many Stakeholders Requires Elevated Communication.

With site boundary constraints and less than ideal topography for an easy cut/fill earthworks balance, Journey worked closely with the Client to find a cost-effective design and created a staged approach to the construction in order to minimize the amount of material needing to be moved. The strategic location and planning of the surface water pond saved thousands of cubic meters of material being needed for construction, yet still achieved the environmental requirements for surface water management. This collaborative approach with the Client and Contractor reduced the overall cost of the project and helped keep the development of the disposal facility on schedule.
