Today, we are excited to announce that Paul Klavins has ‘officially’ joined the Journey Engineering Corporation team! In case you were wondering, Paul has already rocked out at two Journey Christmas parties and worked on multiple projects with our close-knit team – today he has joined the ranks in his new permanent role of Senior Process Engineer! 👏

Paul was born and raised in #Calgary, with a lifelong love of learning about new technologies and applying existing technologies to new areas. This desire led him to pursue and obtain two degrees (B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering specializing in Energy and the Environment and B.A. in Economics) from the University of Calgary. Since then, he has gained over 12 years of #experience from working on a wide variety of projects from the conventional O&G industry (natural gas processing facilities, gathering systems, oil batteries) to emerging technologies (helium purification, direct air capture, and brine-sourced lithium production). At Journey, Paul is working with clients such as North American Helium, Inc and Gibson Energy to identify and deliver on their needs, while also looking to work closely with Derek Marshall to expand our business in the gas plant and major projects space.

There are 3 things that define Paul’s life outside of work: #Family (consisting of his fantastic wife, a rambunctious toddler, and an affectionate ‘zoo’ of 3 cats and 2 dogs); #Travel (he recently went to Niagara Falls and did Running with the Bulls a few years ago); and being #Active (with sports, camping, hiking, and home renovations).

To wrap up with a direct quote from Paul himself, “I had a great childhood in Calgary, I hope it can stay a great place to raise a #family. I’d like to see this city become a #global engineering and technology hub with Journey Engineering as a major part of it.” We certainly agree – hats off to that!
